Legal
Privacy.
Written to be read, not to be defensible. If something below is vague, that is a mistake and we want to hear about it — privacy@lintel.com.
The short version. We collect what you type into the contact form, plus a count of page views with no cookie attached. We do not sell leads, we do not run ad networks, and nobody outside the four companies named below ever sees your address.
What we collect, and why
Three things, and that is the whole list.
- What you send us. Name, email, phone if you gave it, the property address, your budget or asking price, your timeline, and whatever you wrote in the message box. We need it to answer you. Nothing on the form is collected “for our records”.
- How you got here. The page you arrived from, and any
utm_tags on the link. This tells us whether writing field notes is worth the Sunday it costs. It is attached to your enquiry, not to you across the internet. - Page views. Counted by Plausible, which is cookieless and stores no personal data. We see that a page was viewed from a country. We do not see who you are, and neither do they.
What we do not collect: your location, your device fingerprint, your behaviour on other sites, or anything at all from the calculators. The rent-versus-buy maths and every other tool run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type never leave the machine you typed them on, which is what the copy beside them says and it is true.
The legal basis, if you need one
- Answering your enquiry — because you asked us to, and because we have a contract or are about to.
- Keeping transaction records — because state brokerage law requires it. This one is not optional for either of us.
- The Thursday email — consent, given by ticking a box, withdrawn by clicking one link.
How long we keep it
- An enquiry that went nowhere: 24 months. Then it is deleted, not archived. People come back after eighteen months more often than you would think, and it is rude to make them start again.
- A transaction: seven years after closing. Oregon and every other state we are licensed in require brokerage records for at least six. We keep seven and stop.
- Newsletter address: until you leave. Then it goes within thirty days, apart from a one-way hash so we do not accidentally add you back.
Who else sees it
Four companies, each doing one job:
- Cloudflare — serves this website and blocks bots. Sees IP addresses in transit.
- Plausible Analytics — counts page views. EU-hosted, cookieless, no personal data.
- Fastmail — carries our email, so it carries your reply.
- Stripe — takes payment when there is one. We never see a full card number.
Beyond that: the title company, lender, and closing attorney on your own transaction, because a sale cannot happen otherwise, and a court or regulator if one compels us. That is the complete list. We have never sold a lead and the business does not have a line item for it.
What you can ask us to do
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of everything we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or the EU/UK, those are statutory rights and we answer inside the deadline your law sets. Everywhere else we answer anyway, because we cannot see the argument for a two-tier policy.
Email privacy@lintel.com. A person replies inside five working days and does the thing inside thirty. We will ask you to confirm the email address you originally wrote from, and nothing more — an identity check that demands a photo of your driving licence to delete an email address is theatre.
The one thing we cannot delete on request is a completed transaction file, for the seven-year reason above.
Children
This site is not for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If a form was filled in by a child, write to us and it is gone that day.
Where the data lives
United States. If you are writing to us from the EU or UK, your enquiry crosses the Atlantic to get to us, under the standard contractual clauses. Say so in the message and we will confirm it in writing.
Security, honestly
Encryption in transit and at rest, two-factor on every internal account, and access limited to the people working your file. We have not had a breach. If we do, you hear from us inside 72 hours with what was taken and what we are doing, before we tell anyone else and regardless of whether the law makes us.
When this page changes
The date at the top moves and the change is described here in a line. If a change means we would use something you already sent us for a new purpose, we ask first. We do not treat “continued use of the site” as agreement to anything.
